JOB DESCRIPTION

Hire, train, supervise and develop planning teams. Develop annual and seasonal financial plans, assortment plans and unit plans for areas of responsibility. Review and approve buy plans and distribution strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Travel to stores and distribution center to ensure inventory levels support sales and understand the inventory needs.
* Recommend annual and seasonal financial plans based on merchandising strategies in conjunction with merchandising DMM.
* Recommend inventory strategies to maximize sales and profits.
* Oversee the development of buy plans based on merchandising strategies.
* Review and approve distributions strategies.
* Provide receipt flow projections to Director.
* Understand distribution center capacity and processing capabilities and resolve issues in a timely manner.
* Resolve back stock issues.
* Determine and prioritize workload for staff; recommend effective processes and procedures to improve results.
* Mentor, educate and develop staff.
* Review department financial forecasts ((OTB)/Rolling forecast) with planner and merchant and take appropriate action.
* Review visual floor set to insure appropriate inventory in-stock requirements.
* Hire train, supervise and develop planners and distribution analysts.
* Provide direction, objectives and appraisal of staff.
* Resolve issues with store organization.
* Achieve sales, inventory and margin goals for areas of responsibility.
* Insure all team members are trained and are able to utilize systems.
* Responsible for managing to financial plans.
* Communicate business strategies to team members.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* 3-5 years retail experience.
* 3+ years planning and inventory management.
* 5+ years business experience.
* 1-2 years people management experience.
