Williams Sonoma Home is looking for a full-time Associate Buyer for our Furniture team!

About the Role

Develop business strategies and seasonal assortment plans to maximize sales and profits for the Williams Sonoma Home team. Identify opportunities and recommend new product or concepts for the department. Coordinate information across functions working closely with Inventory Management, Distribution, Site Merchandising, Brand Marketing and Creative Services to ensure process is followed and timelines met.

* Identify opportunities and recommend new product or concepts for department or area.
* Perform market analysis, competitive shop and analyze sales trends to keep abreast of current trends. Obtain feedback from stores & call centers to improve product and add to collections.
* Identify emerging trends and develop business strategies outlining strengths, weaknesses, new opportunities and threats. Communicate annual and seasonal strategies to functional areas.
* Develop and recommend seasonal and core product mix for department. Manage internal merchandise assortment tools for accuracy and consistency. Collaborate with Inventory Management to develop annual and seasonal financial plans.
* Collaborate with Inventory Management to develop seasonal and annual financial plans. Communicate merchandising assortments, product details, target retails and costs, MOQs and marketing plans by channel. Develop cost effective exit strategies for new programs. Communicate purchase quantities, delivery dates and flow.
* Negotiate promotional strategies and funding with vendor community. Report vendor funding weekly (or daily in Holiday). Communicate promotional strategies to all cross functional areas. Pull and share system reports, write and communicate debit memos to finance and accounts payable.
* Drive weekly and bi-weekly vendor meetings through effective planning and communication. Report sales, create agendas and ensure proper follow through on all action items.
* Execute weekly reporting (and other ad hoc analyses), with an ability to interpret the results, tell the story, and recommend ideas to drive the business.
* Analyze returns and recommend solutions to reduce return rate. Monitor product reviews to identify potential issues.
* Communicate key product items and collaborate with Creative Services for digital, site and catalog layouts. Recommend site improvements, product ranking, photography and video needs.
* Collaborate with visual merchandising to request and proof all signage & visual packets. Provide guidance and direction for walkthroughs, and seasonal product presentations. Collaborate with merchandising, signage and visual teams to maintain store perimeters layouts. Analyze and recommend product placement, build and photograph planograms and manage proofing process.
* Correspond with all functional areas. Identify, resolve and/or escalate difficult issues to Buyer, Call Center and Stores.
* Summarize and communicate merchandising information for store newsletters and emails. Coordinate with Store Operations and Brand Marketing to disseminate information through appropriate channels.
