JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Role

This role is responsible for understanding and executing the seasonal creative vision on Williams-Sonoma catalog, retail, internet and packaging photography shoots; serve as primary point of contact for members of the Photography teams.

You will be leading a team of producers and stylists to create high-level design concepts, as well as participating in this concepting and execution. You will be working on projects and managing communication with merchants and creative partners to find solutions that solve both creative and business needs.

The time spent in this role will be split evenly between design & management responsibilities. The Art Director should be a leader who can inspire and develop people, and is as excited about helping designers and photo teams build and refine their concepts and design skills as they are about creating their own work.

Your book should include outstandingly stylized shots of lifestyles and food, as well as killer attention to detail, especially in type. Please share examples of your work that you feel relate to the Williams-Sonoma Brand aesthetic, whether professional or personal.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

* Work with the design, photo and merchandising teams to concept & execute seasonal campaigns and development of brand aesthetic for the catalog
* Leading a team of producers, merchandise coordinators and stylists, provide art direction on photography shoots
* Hire and oversee photography teams; location scouting
* Attend all merchandise and pre-production meetings and film reviews
* Gain knowledge of software, digital requirements and all aspects of photography, such as lighting and composition
* Work closely with photo team and merchants to obtain all relevant information, technical requirements and timelines for each project
* Independently identify issues and resolutions
* Participate in developing realistic time lines. Work from production schedules and status to manage time and prioritize daily workload. Ensure work is completed on time.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies required:

* 10+ years' experience with photo and art direction

* Strong storytelling/layout and graphics capabilities
* Location & studio photography experience required
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once in a deadline-driven environment
* Requires use of personal transportation
* Knowledge of food trends
* Food photography experience strongly preferred
