About the Role

Williams-Sonoma, Inc. is looking for an ideal candidate to fill the role of Staff Accountant, based out of our headquarters in San Francisco, California. This position will perform various accounting transactions, including accounting for leasing transactions under newly issued accounting standards, and the Company's catalog advertising costs and other areas as deemed necessary. This individual will maintain effective controls over all of these areas and ensure the presentation of all amounts presented in the financial statements are consistent with GAAP and Company policies. This position will also help support the implementation of new lease accounting standards, as well as the integration and migrations of various data with/to a new financial ERP platform over the next several months.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

* Responsible for the accounting for leases under newly issued accounting standard (ASU 2016-02) including managing the collection and review of company-wide lease data
* Liaise with numerous internal business units, including the Real Estate team to ensure compliance with proper accounting for global lease portfolio as well as required disclosures under newly issued accounting standard.
* Support the roll out of a new cloud-based lease administration and accounting platform as well as its integration with both the current general ledger platform, and eventually a new cloud-based ERP platform.
* Work with our creative teams in supporting and performing the accounting for the expense associated with our catalog spend, which approximates over $100 million per year.
* Help development accounting close processes around the various accounting entries under your responsibility.
* Work with brand finance and creative teams to help analyze results versus budget and forecast, ensure completeness of accruals, and adherence to current accounting policies and internal controls.
* Perform the accounting for various other areas as needed.
* Responsible for continual evaluation of current policies and procedures requiring effective interaction with multiple departments and levels of management.
* Perform all balance sheet account reconciliations for areas of accounting performed.
* Assist with and support ad-hoc projects.

We're excited about you because...

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
* Minimum 2 years accounting or financial analysis experience
* Strong systems aptitude, experience in accounting systems (Oracle a plus)
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel
* Ability to communicate both verbally and through written mediums in a clear and concise manner
* Self-starter, eager, problem solver, creative thinker, adaptable, strong analytical skills
* Requires a very organized and detailed oriented individual with ability to juggle multiple tasks
* Excellent customer service skills and willingness to partner with other team members
* Retail industry experience a plus
