About the Role

Williams-Sonoma, Inc. is looking for an ideal candidate to fill our Tax Senior Associate position based out of our headquarters in San Francisco, California reporting to the Senior Manager of Direct Tax. This position will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the company's US federal and global direct tax compliance and planning and the accounting for income taxes under US GAAP and local GAAP. Responsibilities also include supporting the company's global transfer pricing and related reporting.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to be a big-picture, strategic thinker with the willingness to roll-up sleeves and execute. The candidate will operate with a sense of urgency and will have the proven ability to work across diverse lines of an expanding global organization. It is essential that the successful candidate has strong communication and leadership skills, a well-rounded tax background, strong self-management, hands-on accounting experience and a desire to problem solve in a non-routine, dynamic environment.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

* Assist and prepare the company's US and local GAAP accounting for income taxes and related financial reporting. Maintain internal reporting of the company's effective tax rate to management.
* Assist with the company's direct tax compliance (outsourced), including federal tax adjustment calculations, state apportionment, and state supporting workpapers- ensuring compliance with all such required tax return filings.
* Assist and prepare all income and franchise tax extensions and estimated tax payments.
* Ensure that tax positions are well documented and thoroughly supported by work papers.
* Assists with federal, state and local income tax audits.
* Performs research, analysis and interpretation of new or revised federal, state and local tax law changes and evaluates organizational impact.
* Performs timely resolution of correspondence and notices from income tax authorities.
* Identifies and implements process improvements to better leverage department resources.
* Assist with analysis of annual transfer pricing reports.
* Maintains professional status by keeping technically current; reading tax periodicals, attending seminars, and other development activities.
* Works on special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

We're excited about you because you have...

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
* CPA or JD a plus, but not necessary
* Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive tax experience (with a blend of public accounting and public multinational retail experience a plus)
* High level of competence working with corporate income tax software and maintaining or development of workpapers that adequately document and support tax positions
* Strong technical knowledge of income tax, accounting for income taxes (e.g. ASC 740) and transfer pricing
* Experience in interacting with auditors and audit defense, a plus
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to respond to, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining the highest of standards of completeness and accuracy
* Effective and decisive under pressure
* Strong planning, research, communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
* Strong excel, word and power point skills. Alteryx experience a plus
* Strong sense of business ethics, integrity and discretion
