Williams-Sonoma, Inc. is a leading nationwide specialty retailer of products for the home. These products, representing seven distinct merchandise strategies - Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, PBTeen, West Elm, Mark & Graham, and Rejuvenation - are marketed through over 600 stores, eight mail order catalogs and seven e-commerce websites. The Senior Vice President of IT, in concert with business partners, is responsible for leading the IT portfolio management and application delivery of Supply Chain, Merchandising and Inventory Systems, Corporate Systems for Williams-Sonoma, Inc. This position leads the resources related to the design and development of business applications and works closely with other IT functional areas that enable multiplatform application development and project delivery in areas such as Direct-to-Consumer solutions, Order Management, Merchandise management / allocations / forecasting, and Supply Chain including warehouse and transportation management. This role will also oversee our Corporate Systems including Finance, HR, and Loss Prevention applications. Furthermore, this person will also be the senior liaison for our Rejuvenation division which is located in Portland, OR.

Essential Functions

* Business Acumen / Vision / Governance: Participate with senior business partners in transforming strategic plans into high level IT initiatives; provide a vision for how technology can enable current and future business opportunities; manage and drive the corporate governance process.

1. Build relationships and communication channels to integrate activities with business units and other IT departments to build accountability and ensure the successful implementation and support of project and operational efforts.

2. In collaboration with business unit management and other IT functional areas, assess feasibility, determine cost/benefits, prioritize projects, and develop and implement systems plans that address the information requirements of the business and adhere to established strategic business and systems objectives.

3. Leverage personal subject matter expertise to drive innovation and creative solutions to business challenges throughout the organization.

* Mentoring: Provide high level management, coaching and mentoring to create an environment which encourages accountability and strong staff development; manage the hiring, training, motivating, and retaining of top talent.
* Delivery:

1. Drive projects to successful completion by delivering on promised scope / functionality, resolving issues and conflicts with business / IT / Vendor partners, hitting deadlines with quality deliverables.

2. Develop and manage departmental budget and staffing plans that support the long term and short term company objectives.

* Operational Delivery: Owns the performance of the operations support function within functional areas. Responsible for stability and performance of the applications. Drives compliance and security considerations throughout the organization.
* Vendor Management: Responsible for owning the key relationships with our Tier 1 and Tier 2 vendors. Manages the tradeoffs between sourcing selections. Held directly accountable for hitting metrics associated with vendor performance, while delivering to sourcing strategy performance metrics.


Work Experience

* Extensive IT experience, typically gained through 15 or more years progressively responsible roles, including development, implementation, maintenance and project management of large scale systems across multiple hardware and software platforms related to marketing management.
* Experience with scalable technology solutions that adjust to cyclical business patterns.
* Experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation.
* Management experience leading technical teams and leveraging resources to deliver solutions.
* Requires experience in a large retail or global logistics environment. Specifically, experience with the following areas strongly desired: warehouse management (PKMS, Thompkins, Reddwerks, etc.), order management (e.g. Sterling Commerce), transportation management, inventory management and merchandising solutions (Retek experience preferred: RMS, Allocations, Forecasting; Planning Systems; PLM solutions, etc.).
* Consulting background is desirable.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business or Management, Computer Science, or related discipline or equivalent experience is required. Master's degree is highly desired.
