About the Team

You will be part of the Williams-Sonoma Inc Marketing team, working with our digital marketing, customer analytics and CRM teams to manage invoice payments and accounting in our San Francisco office.

About the Role

The Marketing Accountant is responsible for managing invoice payment and accounting for the Marketing Department for Williams-Sonoma, Inc. including the Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Williams Sonoma brands.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

* Work within the Marketing team as the direct accounting liaison in managing marketing's submission of vendor invoices, communication with vendors regarding payments, reconciliation of outstanding activity, and related accruals for marketing spend.
* Utilize your understanding of the accounting implications, general ledger account structure and budgetary process along with timeliness, attention to detail, completeness and accuracy.
* Partner closely with the Accounts Payable staff and utilize the financial system (Oracle Fusion) for inquiry, tracking and reporting.
* Manage and prepare the marketing accruals each month for period close.
* Communicate proactively with marketing vendors to implement corrective action regarding discrepancies.
* Process month-end journal entries and variance analysis, as well as recommending/implementing process improvement and procedures.
* Adhere to audit guidelines and SOX procedures.
* Support other initiatives in the Marketing Organization as needed.

* A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 2+ years experience in an accounting/finance role
* Systems savvy, with advanced-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel (v-look-ups, sum-ifs, manipulating data within large spreadsheets)
* Self-motivation, are results-oriented, and possess strong intellectual curiosity
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to effectively address issues in collaboration with others as appropriate
* Ability to analyze data and prepare concise, insightful summary analysis for Senior Management
* Initiative to propose and implement improvements to month end procedures, day-to-day job responsibilities and other functions
* Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities
