Position Summary

Architects are responsible for working with WSI's Software and Applications Engineers to define technology architecture, including policies, standards and procedures used by Implementation and Support/Operations teams. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work hand in hand with WSI Application Engineers to analyze, design, and develop software solutions in the Logistics space.

Specific Responsibilities

Within Specific Domain:

* Understands relevant business and technology directions
* May translate directions into vision and strategy relevant for WSI business and systems needs
* Provides input into enterprise strategies and roadmaps
* Stays up-to-date with evolving trends
* Long term thinking for specific solutions: 2-3-year horizon
* Participates in developing application system and technology standards, templates and methods
* Effectively applies standards in designs within their domain

* Understands requirements and helps author technical designs for new systems and system changes, including data conversion and interfaces to other systems
* Participates in application reviews to ensure all functional and non-functional requirements are met and standards are followed
* Opportunity to help author small and/or well-defined application customizations

* Effectively communicates relevant information across IT, using appropriate communication methods
* Analyzes and provides guidance for architectural solutions to development and technology initiatives, and operational problems, focusing on adaptable and sustainable solutions
* Leads and drives the translation of functional requirements to architectural approaches and technical designs

* Takes direction from Sr. Architects
* IT business systems, business processes, or technologies within the Logistics Domain
* Mentors and/or coaches others in their areas of expertise

* Forms and guides teams within their department
* Recognized for their ability to lead teams within their area in the identification and resolution of problems

* Architecture for one or more IT business systems, processes, and technologies within a domain
* Ensuring the success of projects is not adversely affected by architectural decisions in their domain
* Able to identify, analyze and solve problems in their domain for themselves and others
* Able to accurately assess risks and dependencies, and present viable solutions within their domain
* Develops processes applicable to their domain
* Follows accepted architectural methods; provides input in the development of standard architectural methods used within their domain
* Based on their domain knowledge, identifies tactical opportunities for exploiting new and emerging solutions

* Participates in decisions outside of their domain

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

* Intermediate knowledge of the business systems and technologies within the Logistics domain and other areas closely associated with the Logistics domain.

* Typical systems in the Logistics domain includes Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Yard Management Systems (YMS), etc.
* Technical experience with Manhattan WMS (WMi or WMOS) and TMS systems is highly desirable.

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
* Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of work experience with 1-2 years of hands-on development experience
