Williams-Sonoma, Inc. is seeking a proven professional with Customs experience working for an importer of retail merchandise. You will part of a dynamic team that is responsible for ensuring corporate compliance to the rules and regulations of Customs and other government agencies while providing guidance to achieve lowest landed cost for a complex and broad product line.

The ideal candidate must be a Licensed Customs Broker with expansive knowledge of import and export regulations for multiple countries with emphasis on tariff classification. You will have proven ability to lead communication with Regulatory and other pertinent government agencies and will have the ability to think and perform strategically

The performance expectations of this position include; acting with a sense of urgency while maintaining high compliance and due diligence, analyzing and determining root causes, thinking and planning strategically, elevating operational issues effectively and fostering positive communication between internal and external business partners.

Primary Function: Serve as a subject matter expert in Global Trade Compliance, using experience and knowledge of U. S. and foreign trade regulations with emphasis on tariff classification to ensure timely clearance and promote ongoing compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Effectively manage the team that is responsible for ensuing all imported products are classified prior to arrival and resolve shipment issues that may impede smooth and timely clearance.
* Keep current with changes in regulations and new regulatory obligations assumed through new product development and global expansion. Implement new policies and procedures accordingly.
* Establish and ensure internal controls, reporting and systems documentation complies with the Company's Compliance Programs. Develop and execute procedures that mitigate risk and demonstrate reasonable care standards for a global market.
* Lead, coach and develop customs team to ensure compliance and cross functional development.
* Perform other duties as assigned.



* Licensed Customs Broker
* A BS/BA degree in International Trade/Business or equivalent, preferred
* 5 years or more experience working in the Customs organization of an US Importer with at least 5 years' experience in management preferred.
* Experience in the tariff classification of a broad range of commodities, including textiles.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools --Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Excellent communication skills, ability to write, speak, and present effectively and persuasively
* Knowledge of import and export regulations of other countries
