The Store Planning Analyst is an exciting opportunity for a highly collaborative, entrepreneurial individual. This person will manage all store planning activities for about 30 West Elm stores by focusing on assortment planning and creative allocation strategy. They will develop and execute store-level sales, inventory, and margin plans to achieve the stores' annually budgeted contribution. Partnering with the store teams, the Store Planning Analyst will consistently review existing store assortments and recommend adjustments to optimize inventory productivity at each location. This will deepen the Analyst's understanding of the store's profile, customer purchasing patterns, and market demographics.

Core responsibilities:

* Communicate with stores regularly to uncover assortment and inventory level opportunities
* Build store plans at the department/class level
* Analyze sales and margin trends weekly, addressing inventory concerns relating to sales/stock imbalances, full-price/markdown penetration, and any misses to sell/thru, turn, and WOH targets
* Develop topline store rankings and reconcile tiering strategies with Distribution Planners
* Gain understanding of each store's salesfloor and stockroom capacity to devise store capacity plans
* Propose creative solutions to help stores sell through markdown/not-go-forward inventory
* Serve as liaison between Distribution Planners, Store Ops, and Transportation to help resolve any allocation and delivery issues
* Report out monthly on the stores' sales and margin performance to target
* Some travel required


* 1-2 years of store planning / allocation work experience
* Retail store experience a plus
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Thorough understanding of retail math
* Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
* Attention to detail and understanding of complex retail fleet
* College degree preferred
