Lead product development efforts within the Functional Accessories department, including garden, mirrors, entry, shelving, bath hardware, and fireplace, creating innovative, functional and stylish items for all channels. Support the buying group's design and development needs. Identify key trends, build seasonal concepts, lead design presentations and ensure all product development deadlines and key calendar dates are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Lead and manage daily functions of the Functional Accessories team.
* Through clear understanding of department design and business objectives, guide the PD team and design process from initial concept through approval. This means:

* Manage process and decision making during daily functions.
* Provide design direction and inspiration.
* Review designers' drawings, full scale prints and comment forms for accuracy and completeness.
* Lead design presentations.
* Assist in the seasonal concepting process for relevant categories.

* Gather market data on key trends and competitor initiatives through comp shopping, trade show attendance, etc., and integrate into seasonal concepts and strategies.
* Work with VP of Accessories and other design leadership to assemble department concept boards.
* Assist in presentation of concepts to internal and cross functional partners.
* Drive workflow to the calendar to ensure all deadlines and key dates are met.
* Assist staff members in managing their workload as required. Step in to assist in day to day work (drawing, specification, presentation) when needed.
* Recommend effective processes and procedures to improve workflow and results.
* Travel as needed to factories and buying shows domestically and internationally.
* Reports to VP of Decorative Accessories.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS

* Minimum 8 years professional experience required, 3 years of which were in a managerial role.
* Degree in design or equivalent experience.
* Experience with drafting and ability to quickly review and comment on drawings.
* Knowledge of 3D modeling, and rendering a plus.
* Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Outlook are essential.
