We are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial person to drive business development and strategic partnerships for West Elm. This position will support West Elm's ambitious growth objectives by identifying and driving strategic initiatives for the brand. An ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial and strategic mindset to the business, an eagerness to learn, analytical capabilities, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position reports into the VP, Brand Finance & Strategy.

Essential Functions:

* Identify and assess opportunities to build pipeline of new business initiatives for West Elm
* Conduct market and competitive research to identify key trends and opportunities
* Develop business cases from scratch, including unit economics, revenue potential sizing, and cost / profitability drivers
* Work closely with internal and external partners (existing and prospective) to identify new growth initiatives and manage existing strategic partnerships (i.e. Hotels, rental, etc.)
* Establish relevant measures of success and financial KPIs for strategic initiatives
* Manage projects from start to finish, including research, assessment, analysis, planning and implementation
* Collaborate with a wide range of cross-functional partners to gather input, develop analysis and materials, and present recommendations
* Lead development of brand presentations and materials for Board of Directors, Executive Committee and other key stakeholders

* 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate development, investment banking or other fields that require technical analysis and strong presentation skills
* Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a quantitative field (finance, economics, business)
* Very strong analytical skills -- extensive experience with Excel and building financial models from scratch with limited oversight
* Knowledgeable in best practices in conducting research and building business cases
* Creative problem solving and strategic thinking skills -- able to delve into business issues, data sets, and external research to form insights and recommendations
* Relentless attention to detail and ability to consistently deliver high quality work
* Comfortable managing multiple projects with a high degree of ambiguity in a fast-paced setting
* Results oriented -- strong sense of urgency and excellent follow through.
* Very strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills -- extensive experience creating PowerPoint presentations; strong listener and presenter
* Desire to learn and passion for retail industry
