Who We Are

Born in Brooklyn. At home in the world. west elm has been helping customers express their personal style at home since the launch of our first catalog in 2002. Our home base is nestled down under the Manhattan Bridge in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, right above our flagship store. We are a dynamic, fast-paced brand with an exciting growth strategy. We value imagination, diversity and giving people the opportunity to explore, grow and shape our future. We look for innovative, smart and hard-working individuals who enjoy creative thinking and ingenuity. Help us carry out our mission of being a source of inspiration to our customers, creating a global community and tirelessly seeking ways to evolve our brand.

This role is responsible for supporting the iterative and continual improvement of the customer experience across all west elm's digital touch points. You'll take direction from the UX Design Lead as well as west elm leadership to help understand the business needs and technical requirements before finding the best solution for our customers.

A constant champion of customer needs and experience improvements.

Research industry best practices and collaborate with our analytics and SEO teams to present the best solution for any and all projects that arise.

Provide designs and specifications for short term projects and work with development to streamline the process through production.

Collaborate on wireframes and user flows for long term projects along with creating low-fidelity prototypes to aid in user testing.

Work with the UX team to continually maintain and strategically improve the digital style guide to adhere to best practices (ie, accessibility, WCAG, responsive, etc.)

Help maintain and contribute documentation around all ongoing and completed projects to create a system of record for future projects.

Projects that don't fit into these buckets come up at a moment's notice, of course, and we'll expect you to be a willing contributor with an enthusiastic outlook: work hard and be nice to people.

Characteristics of an Ideal Candidate

You are passionate about the world of retail and are looking to grow with west elm as it matures. (And you understand that with growth come growing pains.) You want to get to know our brand and our customers and use that familiarity to form the basis of well-considered design solutions.

You are confident in your design skill set, but eager to learn more about user experience best practices and implementation in a focused business environment that aspires to provide a meaningful digital experience.

You enjoy bringing creativity to a corporate community while also remaining professional and collaborative.

You thrive in a rapidly moving atmosphere: our business needs are never-ending, but enterprise development cycles can take years to see completion.
