The HR Generalist will support the overall efforts of the People + Culture team as we work across all stages of the associate lifecycle. This individual will play an integral part in bridging the gap as hired candidates transition to west elm associates.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Provide guidance to associates on policies and procedures, best practices and standard operating procedures, etc. Interpret and apply information from the Associate Handbook and other resources.

* Ensure accurate and timely processing of updates to associate information, letters of employment and other necessary documents and actions as part of an associate's lifecycle including creating documents for and processing internal offer letters, salary adjustments, manager changes, etc.
* Actively participate in the new hire onboarding process:

* Submit IT Requests for systems access and technology needs
* Ensure new hire information is captured in all necessary HR information systems, process new hire paperwork and conduct day one overview of pertinent information.
* Continuously improve the new hire process for new hires and their managers, partnering with HR Manager to develop and execute onboarding programming that is engaging and impactful.
* Setup new hire desks with supplies, resource documents, and new hire gift to create a welcoming environment for associates' first day.
* Schedule and manage logistics for monthly new hire orientation, act as a facilitator on a rotating basis.
* Schedule new hire check-ins with associates
* Responsible for accurate record keeping for the corporate Open Jobs Report, New Hire Alerts, Exit Calendar, and other reports as needed. Ensure all reports are in alignment with org charts, appropriate budgets, assigned job codes, and other relevant information.
* Maintain record keeping system for newly created and revised job descriptions across all departments.
* Support the annual performance management process; in partnership with HR Manager, draft communications, pull weekly status reports, and usher the process through until completion.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in HR or relevant field
* 2-3 years professional level Human Resources experience
* Hands-on, team-oriented work ethic
* Ability to effectively prioritize in a high-pressure environment
* Excellent time management and organizational skills
* Ability to be flexible; problem solver; self-directed; and, collaborative
* Ability to build successful relationships
* Above average knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Strong interpersonal, cross-functional collaboration, and communications skills
