Assistant Planners are responsible for planning and managing a small category of business within one of our divisions: furniture, textiles, decorative accessories, or lighting. They are responsible for forecasting sales, margin and inventory from the department level to the SKU level. In effort to maximize appropriate in-stock levels, daily activities include monitoring inventory levels by SKU, placing reorders, proposing sales plans to drive sales, transferring inventory between Retail and DTC.

The Assistant Planner creates SKU level plans at the season level and then closely monitors sales, margin, and inventory to maximize opportunities throughout the year. They also forecast sales and margin at a top line perspective, analyzing weekly sales and margin trends. In addition, assistant planners generate in-stock reports and various other reports for their division. Analytical thinking, communication, cross function partnerships, curiosity, and time management are key success factors for this role and all planning roles at west elm.

Essential Functions:

* Responsible for running and analyzing weekly and ad hoc reporting.
* Maintain appropriate inventory levels and partner w/cross functional partners to ensure on-time delivery of newness through the in-stock report.
* Plan and manage an area of responsibility through entire product life cycle; including creating pre-season plans, presenting plans during investment review, and managing monthly open to buy.
* Build a team relationship with cross-functional business partners.
* Partner with Merchants and Allocation for store stocking and tier strategies.
* Independently manage Monday morning reporting, ad hoc reporting, backorder notifications, linking, re-forecasting, and Retail and DTC (OMNI) planning tool SKU management including roll-over SKU's.
* Maintain appropriate inventory levels and partner w/cross functional partners to ensure on-time delivery of newness through the in-stock report.
* Plan and manage an area of responsibility through entire product life cycle; including creating pre-season plans, presenting plans during investment review, and managing monthly open to buy.
* Build a team relationship with cross-functional business partners.
* Assist in the resolution of customer service and inventory issues.
* Partner with Merchants, Retail distribution planners, and Ecommerce to ensure prominently featured collections have proper on hand and on order inventory.
