About the Team

You will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering team supporting production of lighting and hardware components and assemblies in our Portland factory. Our job is to insure the product is processed through the factory in the safely and efficiently, while maintaining the high quality and beautiful aesthetic that defines our brand.

About the Role

In the Manufacturing Engineering role, you'll be responsible for supporting production in their daily goals. You'll use MS Dynamics AX, CAD tools and Office 365 tools to communicate with product engineering, inventory planners, external vendors and the production team to launch multiple new lighting and hardware products as well as maintaining the quality and productivity of existing product.

* Evaluate production process to eliminate waste in time and material using time studies and production scrap analysis
* Develops appropriate routings, and manufacturing work instructions.
* Provides technical support to Production operations in the areas of equipment, layout, tooling, fixtures and machines to ensure low-cost, high-quality products.
* Maintain DAX Routing times and specifies routing operation notes
* Maintain UL production testing and documentation
* Write, document, and implement QA standards and guides for internal team and external vendors
* Work directly with inventory planners to insure timely communication with vendors on defect quality reporting, track and analyze vendor performance results
* Provide hands on support to QA Inspection team as needed.
* Provide engineering support to Manufacturing ensuring consistent application of quality techniques
* Improve existing product design for manufacturability and ease of assembly, and reduction of product cost.
* Collaborate with new product engineers to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design.
* Complete root cause defect analysis of fixture and part failures.
* Document and communicated written reports on production quality issues of capability, tolerancing, and materials related issues.
* Develop necessary rework instruction for internal fabrication team on a case by case basis.
* Maintain accurate Bills of material in DAX.
* Evaluates resourced components for fit and function
* Complies with company handbooks and policies.
* Performs other duties as assigned by management.

We're excited about you because...

* BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering
* Minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing engineering
* Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
* Experience with spinning, stamping, forging, casting manufacturing processes a plus
* Experience with World Class Manufacturing/Lean/Toyota Production System principles, TPM, 6S a plus
* Experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus
* Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with others at all organizational levels

Technical Competencies required:

* Experienced in using CAD software
* Proficient in MS Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
