About the Team

The Pottery Barn Brands Inventory Strategy team designs, creates, and implements inventory optimization capabilities that enable Pottery Barn/ PB Teen/ PB Kids to manage business throughout the product lifecycle. Projects are designed to create sustainable competitive advantages that generate significant financial return and enhance the consumer experience. Additionally, the team works closely with internal business partners - merchandising, inventory management, marketing, finance, and the stores - to identify and implement strategies to optimize sales, inventory, and margin. We are looking for someone who is a true owner of their business and will contribute creative new ideas. About the Role

The Director of Inventory Strategy will manage projects supporting methodology development, process improvement, quantitative analysis, and technology/tool requirements related to tops down planning, promotional processes, pricing strategy, and allocation. In addition to owning development and improvements in reporting, tools & approaches, the Director is expected to be instrumental in the identification of key issues, execution of analysis, development of conclusions and presentation of findings and recommendations.

* Lead processes coordinating multiple functional areas to hit key milestones and make decisions on time with quality related to tool development, supply chain optimization, and other inventory related actions.
* Lead the development of scalable planning tools, processes, and reporting and encourage sharing of best-practice to ensure consistency.
* Summarize and analyze large data sets to provide recommendations to help business leaders make decisions.
* Quickly and efficiently run Ad-Hoc analysis to support leadership decision making.
* Be able to lead and guide team in running Ad-Hoc analysis
* Identify, prioritize, and initiate process improvements to increase effectiveness of strategic planning and cross-functional partners - Merchandising, Planning, Distribution, and IT.

* Provide special interface to key field partners to identify opportunities, address risks and concerns, and provide insights into key initiatives and strategies.
* Produce KPIs and insights, to identify opportunities/risks in the business. Partner across the organization to implement responses.
* Leadership & Collaboration

* Play a leadership role in creating a people-first culture that is innovative, results-oriented, and that celebrates success.
* Oversee the career and skill development of a team of MicroStrategy Developers and Business/BI Analysts with a focus on training, retention, and building bench strength.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* 10+ years' experience in a Merchandise Planning or Data Analytics/BI role- experience with both preferred.
* Strong technical Excel skills. SQL/Microstrategy skills preferred but not required

* Demonstrated ability to define new process as well as enhance existing ones. We're looking for someone who jumps in, learns quickly, and improves the team's performance.

* Good verbal and written communication skills for delivering non-technical presentations that influence business partners and upper management.
* Pride yourself on the quality of work and are a stickler for the details. Demonstrates self-management and initiative.
* Must be able to quickly, clearly, and concisely present analytical data and propose solutions in an organized manner to groups.
