About the Team

The Merchandising team is responsible for developing business strategies and seasonal assortment plans to maximize the development of the brand, sales and profits for a department or assigned area. We identify opportunities and recommend new product or concepts for the department. We coordinate information across functions working closely with Design, Inventory Management, Ecommerce, Sourcing, Production, Creative Services, Packaging and Visual to ensure the process is followed and timelines are met. You will be part of the Pottery Barn Kids division, focusing on product for customers throughout their teens and into the Dorm phase.

About the Role

We are looking to fill the Furniture Assistant Buyer role in the Pottery Barn Kids brand. In this role, you will report to the Buyer and oversee a range of products such as Play Kitchens, Cribs, Upholstered Nursery Chairs and Play Tables & Chairs. We are looking for someone who is excited to jump in and learn about the business, and is equally as excited about the analytical part as they are about the creative part. The role is extremely collaborative -- you will work with almost every role in the brand. We are in search of someone who can jump from one task to another quickly and efficiently, and someone who is excited about working with a fun and energetic group!

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

* Manage daily tasks that are critical to keep business afloat. Tasks include: Sku set up, spreadsheet maintenance, working in various internal systems to ensure accurate promotions/pricing/retails, sample ordering for presentations.
* Read and analyze sales to determine markdown, promo, and assortment decisions
* Be responsible for reviewing catalog proofs and online copy for each season (pricing, naming, copy)
* Identify and recommend new products or business opportunities
* Analyze market trends and provide observations to help to determine assortment decisions
* Assist the Buyer with developing the seasonal assortment plans to define product requirements for Design
* Collaborate with our Design and Sourcing teams to keep all developments on track and communicate changes throughout the season
* Work closely with our Inventory Management team to determine seasonal buys and overall investments for every collection
* Take part in the catalog pagination process, determining how our product fits in and enhances the overall vision for the season
* Help with our retail and big ideas set ups- IE: ordering samples, coordinate getting them to our offices and in place for presentations.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

We're excited about you because...

* You have a Bachelor's degree
* You have relevant experience working in a collaborative retail buying office (or related experience)
* You have experience in applications such as MS Windows and MS Office including Excel
* You are enthusiastic about the idea of being in merchandising and working with an awesome team!

Technical Competencies required:

* Strong knowledge of Excel and general retail math
