Position Summary:

The Global Travel Manager will be responsible for the strategic development and overall management of Williams-Sonoma Inc.'s global travel program and policy. This role will perform a variety of functions including supporting corporate travel and procurement strategies, conducting sourcing activities, and ensuring that the global travel program is coordinated with the program objectives. The Global Travel Manager will provide support to the Director of Procurement identifying and delivering savings & value adding opportunities across all travel and other procurement categories as needed.

This position maintains the front line interface with all global travelers, internal stake holders, key suppliers and industry experts, to ensure a best in class, safe, efficient and socially & environmentally responsible program is in place and superior customer service is delivered throughout the WSI global organization. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and an expert in strategic sourcing of one or more travel categories. The Global Travel Manager Manager will have lead accountability to execute category strategies and procurement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Travel Program Support

* Support travel categories such as internal policies, demand management programs, sourcing, and travel risk/crisis management
* Work collaboratively and proactively with leadership to develop and implement key cost savings initiatives and process improvements
* Monitor category spend and evaluate options to reduce total program costs -- air, hotel, ground transportation, corp/retail fleet management.
* Benchmark internal and external costs against industry and competitive standards
* Liaise with suppliers and/or assess supplier performance, consistency of service, quality, and compliance
* Evaluate program and work with TMC and industry partners to recommend products and services to enhance program

Industry Knowledge & Expertise

* Have extensive knowledge of at least one travel industry category
* Stay informed on new travel related processes, enhancements, implementations, etc.
* Identify and support travel technology products, developing market intelligence, and benchmarking platforms (as needed)
* Manage travel sourcing events

Relationship Management

* Serve as liaison among travelers, suppliers and Travel Management Company
* Maintain relationships with key stakeholders across various levels of organization
* Maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and TMC
* Build internal networks among departments, local leaders and key support team members

Communication

* Communicate travel initiatives, travel category results, updates to program or industry to internal teams
* Serve as point of contact for travelers to resolve issues and inquiries, including interacting with C-Level Executives.
* Develop traveler education content and information to communicate throughout organization

Travel Policy

* Create, administer and enforce corporate travel policy and procedures on a global basis with cross functional partners.
* Develop systems that track and report non-compliance; develop metrics and continuously review and update the travel policy to ensure that it evolves and develops to meet the changes in traveler and travel arranger requirements.

Duty of Care

* Collaborate with cross functional partners to develop and implement a best in class global duty of care program along with clear protocols for travelers and internal stakeholders to follow in the event of an emergency.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills:

* Effective communication skills (oral, written & presentation)
* Exceptional customer service skills
* Proven track record of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner. Specific knowledge of and experience with air/ground contracts
* Ability to establish strong partnerships with clients, prospects, vendors and peers and demonstrates knowledge of practices that provide service and support.
* Knowledge of tools, techniques and practices for analyzing data; analyzes, evaluates, and interprets qualitative and quantitative data to aid in decision-making and achieve results; compiling results into a reporting format that is meaningful and useful to the company.

Required Experience:

* BS/BA required
* 2+ years travel industry experience in account management or management role
* Thorough knowledge of at least one segment of the corporate travel industry
* Ability to travel as needed
* Experience working in cross functional work teams
* Experience working with large market and/or global clients
