About the Role

Operate as the Potterybarn Kids brand-specific buyer managing business for international franchise business and company -- owned stores. Is directly responsible for managing brand strategies to build the brand and maximize sales/profits within a defined market. Develop business strategies and seasonal assortment plans to maximize the development of the brand, sales and profits. Identify business opportunities and propose solutions to maximize WSI profitability. Lead or participate in projects to improve systems, processes, or efficiencies.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

* Work with Brand Director to develop brand-specific strategy, planning, execution, and problem solving
* Manage information across functions working closely with Inventory Management, Sourcing, Production, Packaging and Creative Services to ensure the process is followed and timelines met.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external brand partners.
* Ensure a consistent assortment across Franchise and Company owned stores. Collaborate with the Brand Merchants to identify new vendors, product edits/drops as well as assortment additions. Make recommended assortment changes and provide information/direction to the Global Team for the execution of these changes.
* Collaborate with Inventory to develop annual and seasonal financial plans.
* Provide Inventory Management with final assortment plans (line lists), product details, target retails, estimated IMU, importance to overall assortment (big bets), flow to DC and floor plan location for developing purchase projections and buy plans.
* Lead preparation for new store openings by developing country-specific buying processes and pre/post planning activities
* Investigate and respond to store issues. Coordinate store communication strategies and provide appropriate merchandising information for distribution.
* Participate in visual mapping process to ensure floor plan direction supports market-specific and store-specific visual display and sales plans
* Recommend effective processes and procedures to support market growth, workflow, and delivering results
* Provide leadership and ongoing training and development to create positive team environment

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

* 5+ years retail merchandising or retail planning
* 2+ years people management experience
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills
* Presentation skills required
* Strong understanding of the brand customer and aesthetic
* International experience preferred -- travel required
