The Associate Buyer of Global Merchandising is responsible for developing seasonal assortment recommendations for both international company owned stores and e-commerce as well as our franchise partners in order to maximize the development of the brand as well as sales and profits for West Elm global markets. This individual will identify opportunities and recommend new product or concepts to all franchise partners, coordinate information across functions and work closely with Merchandising, Visual, Creative Services, Sourcing and Inventory Management to ensure the process is followed and timelines are met. Working closely with the Buyer of Decorative Accessories - West Elm, this individual will help shape the short and long term merchandising objectives for the franchise business including recommending growth opportunities and operational efficiencies.

Essential Functions:

* Cultivate cross functional relationships with Franchise, Merchandising, Visual, Creative Services, Sourcing and Inventory Management in order to deliver high quality products to our customers, in all markets, in a timely and cost efficient manner.
* Collaborate with Buyer to oversee and manage Buying Group for given market, and manage Merch Coordinator in their role for the team.
* Communicate recommended assortments, by country, to all pertinent cross functional partners including:

* Brand merchants to ensure that they provide country specific SKU information to Merchandising Operations for input.
* Sourcing and Packaging teams to address any floor ready packaging needs.
* Provide Inventory Management with:

* Final recommended assortment plans (line lists) including product details, importance to overall assortment (big bets), target US retails, and estimated US MMU.
* Recommendations for replacements SKUS when SKUs are dropped or unable to be placed.
* Develop and recommend seasonal and core product assortments, by country, that appeal to the brand's customer demographic and location. Perform Market analysis by channel, competitive shop and analyze historical sales trends to keep abreast of current trends. Obtain feedback from our franchise partners to improve product and add to collections. Partner with cross-functional teams to develop market specific product.
* Work with our franchise partners to identify emerging trends by market and partner in developing business strategies outlining strengths, weaknesses, new opportunities and threats. Communicate annual and seasonal strategies to cross functional areas.

* Collaborate with Inventory management to review, create and present strategies for promotions.
* Resolve difficult issues or escalate to manager and relevant functional partners
* Develop the seasonal assortment plans (line lists) to define product need requirements for Design.
* Investigate and respond to franchise issues. Resolve these issues or escalate to Director and relevant functional partners.
* Communicate key product items and collaborate with Creative Services for ecommerce presentations and strategies.
* Collaborate with Inventory Management and recommend adjustments (markdowns, delivery changes and quality changes) to the plan to maximize sales, profits, budget (OTB) and to protect the brand.
* Recommend and collaborate with Visual to plan floor layouts, signage and in-store collateral for new seasonal launches, promos and in-seasonal changes.
* Investigate and respond to field issues. Coordinate communication strategies with Store Operations. Provide appropriate merchandising information for Store Newsletters.


* BA/BS Required.
* Previous experience in Merchandising.
