Position Summary

Responsible for new products throughout the entire new product development process. Develops, manages and maintains all levels of technical information including CAD drawings, product specifications, technical illustrations, quality requirements, and manufacturing instructions.

Specific Responsibilities

* Collaborates with Design and Product Management in the early stages of product development; provides feedback on manufacturability, estimated cost, UL requirements and form, fit and function.
* Develops appropriate drawings, routings, procedures, and manufacturing instructions to support product development and production activities.
* Identifies potential suppliers and completes First Article inspection reports.
* Creates and maintains bills of material in ERP system.
* Coordinates prototyping, and provides necessary documentation and instruction to support Production activities.
* Works on multiple new product projects under deadline; often working independently to move projects forward.
* Provides input to product development schedules and budgets and supports meeting these market and profitability goals.
* Works with multiple teams to improve product design for manufacturability, ease of assembly, and reduction of product cost.
* Collaborates with Inspection to improve product quality and inspection criteria, root cause defect analysis and facilitate the constant improvement process.
* Provides excellent support and service to our internal customers.


* BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering
* Minimum of 2 to 6 years experience in new product development
* Experienced in using CAD/CAM software for product development
* Proficient use of MS Office Products, Autodesk 2-D and 3-D CAD software.
* Experience with Solid State Lighting/LED Technology a plus
* Experience with spinning, stamping, forging, casting manufacturing processes a plus
* Experience with World Class Manufacturing/Lean/Toyota Production System principles, TPM, 6S a plus
* Experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus
* Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with others at all organizational levels
