JOB DESCRIPTION

SKU Database Manager

Williams-Sonoma Inc.'s Merchandising organization is the sales and profit driver of our company. The Pottery Barn upholstery merchandising team manages one of the largest divisions in the company to deliver our retail, online and mail-order customers great quality custom upholstered furniture across the country. We own and operate a growing manufacturing base right here in the United States, proudly producing nearly all of the upholstered furniture sold through our brands.

The Merchandising environment is dynamic and fast-paced, and our assortment is rapidly expanding. To support the growth, we are looking for a SKU Database Manager who is highly capable of problem solving and managing our Upholstery SKU Database which houses over 200,000 SKUs. It is imperative that the Database is managed with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail as it serves as a tool to manage our costs, retails -- directly impacting the company's profitability -- as well as serves as a tool for all store associates to complete a Sale. This role may also have direct reports as the department grows.

Using SQL (Structured Query Language , Microsoft Access, Excel and Retail Systems, the SKU Database Manager will be responsible for SKU Set-Up and Maintenance, working with several cross-functional partners (internal/ external) to ensure for on time and accurate execution of a seasonal launch. The SKU Manager will also help re-design processes, develop controls and procedures and measure operational improvement opportunities. They will manipulate, analyze and validate data on a daily basis. Also to support the Merchandising organization, the analyst will help with retail reporting to measure the performance of the assortment. We are looking for someone with a passion for data analysis and process and can easily adapt to business-need changes. A passion for home furnishings is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Specific Responsibilities

* Strong skills in Microsoft Access, SQL (Structured Query Language) and Excel required; must be comfortable with manipulating data to problem solve, including the use of pivot-tables, sub-totals, filtering.

* Must have great time-management and communication skills to manage SKU set-up across several cross-functional teams to drive for excellent and on-time execution. The Analyst will communicate to several teams on a regular basis including Sourcing, Merchandise Operations, Merchandising, IT and Planning.
* Attention to detail required with a high level of accuracy.
* Must be able to react quickly in a fast-paced retail environment. Need someone who can easily adapt to business needs with a can-do attitude.
* Investigate and respond to field issues related to SKU set-up/ accuracy/ pricing.
* Provides status updates to cross-functional partners on SKU set-up for seasonal launch.
* Provide SKU information to Merchandising Operations for input.
* Analyzes vendor cost contract shells to trouble shoot for missing or incorrect/ inconsistent information.
* Work with Production Manager/Sourcing to ensure timely delivery and/or changes to delivery of SKU set-up information.
* Prefer experience in a retail environment, database management and college education.
