Position Summary

The Planner, DTC is responsible for the planning and purchasing of inventory to maximize sales, in-stock levels, and inventory turn while minimizing overstocks. This role will work with Sourcing and Merchandising to identify risks and develop strategies for mitigating them. This position reports into the Inventory Manager or Director and may oversee an Assistant Planner.

Specific Responsibilities

* Analytics and Planning

* Meet or exceed sales, inventory and turn goals on fiscal monthly / annual basis as outlined in financial plans.
* Project and plan sales and inventory for each catalog season.
* Analyze SKU sales performance to determine inventory liability.
* Analyze forecast accuracy via predefined metrics.
* Recommend disposition strategy for non-productive inventory.
* Provide specific input on sales and inventory levels for Open to Buy, Catalog reviews, overstock review, etc.
* Resolve escalated backorder, quality, vendor or inventory issues as needed.
* People Management

* Participate in cross-departmental training.
* Interview candidates and make hiring recommendations.
* Provide direction and objectives to direct reports. Evaluate and appraise performance.
* Systems

* Placement of initial orders and reorders.
* Update planning system(s) with vendor lead times and Safety Stock requirements. Oversee and ensure timely and accurate SKU/inventory data input into appropriate system(s).
* Corporate Partnership and Vendor Management

* Work jointly with merchandising to determine departmental SKU level sales projections and product assortments.
* Escalate packaging, quality and vendor performance issues to appropriate owner.
* Review catalog proofs & web for presentation, pagination and layout, and sku accuracy.

* Collaborate with merchandising and sourcing on assortment updates, strategy and timely receipt
* Establish and maintain strong lines of vendor communication including, sales forecast, production capacity and shipping guidelines.
* Participate in the development and implementation of Direct Ship process.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* 3-5 years catalog inventory management exposure.
* Strong technical and analytical skills
* Strong communication and collaborative skills
* Experience managing others preferred.
